Office of the Registrar

Before You Register

Submit Your Health Clearance Documents

The State of Hawaiʻi mandates that certain health requirements must be met for entry to post-secondary educational institutions and you may not attend classes until you have submitted your health clearance. Download and complete the Mandatory Health Requirements Form and submit to the Student Health Services Center.

Know When You Can Register

Refer to the registration schedules to find out when you are eligible to register. Dates and times will vary depending on term. You can also check the “Registration Timetable” on MyUH.

Check Your Registration Status

Some restrictions may be placed on your account to prevent you from registering, such as financial and library obligations, parking fines, or health clearance. To find out if you have any restrictions, go to “View Holds on My Record” on MyUH Services. This will display any holds on your account and who to contact to remove the hold so that you will be able to register.

Check Class availability

The schedule of courses can be found online on MyUH Services. You can also see if any classes are closed and how many seats are remaining if you click on the “Class Availability” link on MyUH. Because MyUH contains the most up-to-date information (including schedule changes such as course cancellations, additions, and changes in times or rooms), we no longer print a copy of the schedule of courses.

Check Course Prerequisites and Requirements

Use the UH Hilo Catalog to check to see if the courses you want to register for require any prerequisites, co-requisites, recommended prior coursework, or special permission.

Plan Your Schedule

Make sure that you are planning to register for courses that will fulfill requirements for your degree, including General Education requirements, requirements for your major, and graduation requirements (such as Writing Intensive courses and the Hawaiʻi/Asia/Pacific requirement). Refer to the Catalog or the Advising Center website to find these requirements. Use STAR GPS Registration to plan out your schedule.

Meet With Your advisor

See your advisor for assistance with course selection, to review your progress toward meeting degree requirements, and to discuss your proposed schedule. To find out who your advisor is, log onto STAR and click on your name linked in blue in the upper right corner. Your assigned advisor will be listed under Academic/Faculty Advisor. Please visit the Advising Center website for more advising information.
