We are very excited to announce our newest program to the Campus Recreation Department called CampusWell. CampusWell is a health and wellness initiative for, universities, colleges and high schools located in the US and Canada. CampusWell's mission is to assist in spreading the word of the eight dimensions of wellness and wellbeing. It shares the importance of student's wellbeing which can have a positive impact on their academic performance.

Start the new years on the right path and begin your fitness journey in 2024 with our customized training program that will embrace and enhance the best version of yourself! You will learn how to properly weight train and develop a healthy lifestyle that will increase your energy, stamina, strength, mobility and train in a safe manner. You will also receive a customized workout plan and a complimentary body composition assessment if you sign-up in the month of January!

In order to enroll and sign up for a Fitness Training session(s), please come to the Campus Recreation Department Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and see Debbie Pina beginning Monday; January 8th! All training sessions must be paid in advance in order to reserve your spot! You can also schedule an appointment with Debbie Pina by either emailing her at dpina@hawaii.edu or (808) 932-7611 and make your payment and reserve your 1st appointment with the Fitness Trainer.
Disclaimer: Cancellations of all Fitness Training appointments must be made within 24hrs. A refund will not be issued if cancellations are not made within 24hrs. before your schedule appointment!
Fitness Trainer Biography
My name is Dylan Antonio-Aguinaldo. I’m currently a third year student studying Kinesiology and Exercise Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. Being a KES major, I aspire to acquire my CPT and CSCS certifications and become a strength and conditioning coach as well as a Personal Trainer. During my free time I enjoy working out and Powerlifting to be specific. I’m also a competitive Powerlifter in the United States of America Powerlifting Federation (USAPL). I am excited to spread my fitness knowledge and help others achieve their fitness and personal health goals.
To enroll or sign-up for a Fitness Training session, please visit the Campus Recreation Department office Monday thru Friday from 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m. and see Debbie Pina. All payment for the sessions needs to be made in advance!

Fitness Classes and Description for Fall 2024 (Begins on Tuesday; Sept. 3rd - December 13th)
Zumba Fitness
Ditch the workout and come join the party! Zumba fitness is a great cardiovascular endurance exercise based on the Latin American dance rhythms which combines low-intensity and high-intensity dance moves based on cumbia, reggaeton, salsa, merengue, hip hop rhythms. Please meet inside aerobics room 2 and it's recommended to bring your towel and water bottle.
Power Half and Hour (Spin)
This class is for anyone who is looking for an amazing cardiovascular endurance workout while riding on a stationary bike with all of the comforts of being indoors. You will learn proper cadence, pace and resistance while improving your overall strength and stamina. Come and journey through the shorelines and through a variety of hills, flats, sprints and interval training workout!
Ride and Renew (Spin)
This class is an "indoor cycling" which focuses on endurance, strength, intervals and high intensity cardiovascular endurance training using our world-class Keizer stationary bike. It also includes a mixture of fast sprints, hill climbs, interval and strength training exercises that will sure to give you a great workout! You will also be guided and pedal along a stationary bike along with the instructors.
Fit Boxing
This class will consist of a total body workout where you will learn how to properly punch and kick using your own body. It will also focus on a high level of cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and also challenge your reflexes. We will provide the upper and lower body punching pads. Please bring your own boxing gloves to class!
Yoga Fusion
Yoga fusion is a dynamic blend of traditional yoga postures with other fitness disciplines such as pilates and calisthenics. Each class will use a variety of low impact exercises to target specific areas of the body such as glutes, abs, arms, and legs, while bringing focus and awareness to the breath and the mind-body connection. Benefits of this class include increased flexibility, strength, balance, relaxation, and clarity.
Total Body Fitness
This class is designed to incorporate a blend of functional movements, cardiovascular exercises and strength training. You will also be using your own body weight and some plyometric exercises. You will also learn how to use a variety of exercise equipment such as free weights, resistance bands, medicine balls, kettlebells. This is a total body workout which will get your body moving and heart-pumping!
Capoeira
Capoeira Angola is an Afro-Brazilian art form which includes a fluid, rhythmic martial arts, and dance of wit and grace. The intricate movements of Capoeira Angola weaves a tradition, history, phiolosophy into a uniquely beautiful "game". Like many African based traditions it transition from Master to students. The FICA Hawai'i group has been training in Hawai'i, on the east side of the Island, since the beginning of 2005 when Trenol Joe a student of Mestre Jurandir, started sharing his passion and coordinating trainings and events. Joe began Capoeira Angola in 2000 and has traveled many times to Brazil to learn the culture, language and nuances of the art.
Abs and Core
The goal of this abs and core class is to tone and strengthen the lower back and abdominal muscles. This class consists of a range of movements intended to strengthen overall functional strength, improve posture, and strengthen the core, such as crunches, planks, leg lifts and a variety of other ab exercises. This class is perfect for people who want to strengthen and stabilize their core, improve their athletic performance, and lay a strong foundation for their fitness regimen.
Jujitsu
Danzan Ryu is one of the most comprehensive and perfected styles of martial arts in the United States. It includes all the elements of a superior self-defense system as well as a complete system of resuscitation and healing arts.
