The Aquatic Program offers a variety of pool-based activities for members. In addition to regularly scheduled open lap swim times, Campus Recreation and Wellness offers Learn to Swim classes, and Lifeguard certification training.  Summer Keiki swim lessons are offered for children 4 years old and up to the Hilo community.   Water aerobic classes are scheduled throughout the academic year.   Finally, ʻOhana Swim hours are available for members to bring their families and children to utilize the pool and locker room facilities on weekends.

Facilities

Girl in pool The Student Life Center features a collegiate-size outdoor swimming pool. The pool measures 50 meters in length by 25 yards in width, with depths ranging from about 4 feet to 6.5 feet.

Surrounding the swimming pool is a large open deck with tables and chairs which will be available for students to hang out or sunbathe while relaxing, studying or surfing the internet.

Programs and Activities

In addition to the Summer swim instruction and SCUBA, more Instructional Classes will be added for the regular semesters. Future classes may include: kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding.

Intramural Sports

Competitions will be offered in water volleyball, water basketball and inner tube water polo. Dates and times TBA.

Please note: lap swimming lanes are always offered. There is also plenty of space to hang out on the deck, get a tan, work on your computer (with wifi) or just splash and play.
