The Aquatic Program offers a variety of pool-based activities for members. In addition to regularly scheduled open lap swim times, Campus Recreation offers Learn to Swim classes, and Lifeguard certification training.  Summer Keiki swim lessons are offered for children 4 years old and up to the Hilo community.   Water aerobic classes are scheduled throughout the academic year.   Finally, ʻOhana Swim hours are available for members to bring their families and children to utilize the pool and locker room facilities on weekends.

Certifications and Classes

In response to the current situation with Coronavirus, Campus Recreation is postponing all Outdoor event programming, Red Cross classes, Learn-to-Swim programming, SCUBA Diving, Fitness Classes, and Intramural activities for the time being. We will update the website and calendar when services and programming begin again.

Surrounding the swimming pool is a large open deck with tables and chairs which will be available for students to hang out or sunbathe while relaxing, studying or surfing the internet.

In addition to the Summer swim instruction and SCUBA, more Instructional Classes will be added for the regular semesters. Future classes may include: kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding.

Intramural Sports

Competitions will be offered in water volleyball, water basketball and inner tube water polo. Dates and times TBA.
