Innovative Coral Science

Underwater Model of Aichi D3A Val Bomber in Guam

Alex Spengler, Master of Science Student in Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science, presented a project he has been working on with the MEGA lab. Not only were we informed about the importance of corals in marine ecosystems, but Alex inspired us to expand our knowledge and curiosity in the possibilities of research in environmental sciences. Alex's project involved the creation of the MEGA LAB AR app, which allows you to scan a QR-type-code to view a 3-D model of a coral!

With our newly found understanding of reefs, we had a greater appreciation for the corals when we went on our huaka'i snorkeling at Richardson's Beach Park that weekend.
