Kilauea Caldera Trip
By Chloe Lea Cockram | International Exchange Student: University of Birmingham
During Fall 2021 semester Kīlauea started erupting. Kīlauea is one of the Volcanoes on the Big Island and it is situated in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. For one of our weekly Saturday excursions, we travelled an hour to Kīlauea summit in vans provided by the Center for Global Education and Exchange.
Once we arrived at the summit, we were able to explore the lookout in groups and take lots of pictures. We spent around an hour at the summit watching the lava and the red/orange clouds. Also, as it was night-time, we were able to see lots of stars and recognise some constellations from a previous Kawili Kine Cultures' excursion.
