Sienna Wareham

Business Administration major
Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, South Korea

Sienna in a hanbok My name is Sienna Wareham. I am a business major studying at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies for the 2019/2020 academic year. This is not my first time abroad, but each time I think I learn something new. This trip the biggest thing I learned was that students here are on a different level than what I had thought. Although I did not get to travel outside of Seoul, I still was able to see a large portion of Seoul. I also got to meet so many people from all over the world. I now have friends from Mexico, Denmark, Brazil, and even England! During my semester, the most memorable moment for me was walking through the financial district when there was a light festival going on. It was just starting to get cold and dark a lot earlier. The city of Seoul hung a bunch of different light decorations under this bridge. They had hung lanterns, fairy lights, and even had neon signs placed throughout to take pictures with. There was even a station where couples could build a boat, write messages on it, and then send it down the stream. It’s said that any wishes written on the boats will come true, so most of the messages are about love, careers, or academic goals.

Caption 1: One thing that you can do in Korea is to rent a hanbok! It is a traditional clothing that they used to wear. If you wear one, you can go to the palaces for free.
