Parent & Family Orientation
Congratulations! You are now the proud ʻohana of a Vulcan! We are honored that your student has chosen to spend the next four years with us at UH Hilo. Rest assured that they have made a great decision. The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is a wonderful place to get a degree. We have amazing faculty members and numerous campus resources that are available to your student to support them in becoming the successful graduates we know they can be.
ʻOhana are welcome to join their student at spring New Student Orientation on Day 1 Thursday January 8, 2026. Your student will need to register for orientation first, and then invite you to sign up via a special link emailed to the email address your student submits for you.
Cost per ʻohana member to attend orientation is $35.00 and can be paid in advance online. This fee is to cover the cost of your meal at the orientation and other materials that you will receive as part of orientation.

The schedule will be available for download after December 15th. For students, orientation runs through Friday, August 22nd with activities that flow into the first week of instruction.
