New Experiences through Field Trips

During the one month international summer exchange program in South Korea, I met so many friends around the world and had the most memorable experiences with them. I studied at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies for my exchange program, which is an awesome university that provides students lots of opportunities. There were different types of feld trips that were organized by the school and the student stafs; which led students to learn about South Korean culture and history during these field trips. For example, we went to the South Korea Independence Wall, traditional Korean fan making, and Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Wearing the Traditional Hanbok in Front of Gyeongbokgung Palace

The most memorable experience that I had was our GongJu feld trip, which was the frst feld trip that I had in South Korea. The feld trip lasted for two days and one night, and we stayed in a traditional Korean house for the night. I slept with seven other students on the floor and in the same room; it was a unique and awesome experience. During the feld trip, we ate a traditional Korean lunch together and we also enjoyed the traditional Korean music. The other most memorable moment that I had in South Korea was going to Gyeongbokgung Palace. We had the chance to tried on the traditional Korean clothing called “Hanbok”. Although the weather was really hot and humid in South Korea when we were wearing long-sleeve Hanbok and walking around in the Gyeongbokgung Palace; it was worth it because this experience was really special for me.

All in all, the month that I spent in HUFS was amazing since it taught me about the importance behind another country’s cultural and history. I cherished every moment that I spent in South Korea.
