UH Hilo to host talk on food safety

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM) invites the public to a presentation on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) on Friday, February 9 at 5 pm, in UH Hilo’s University Classroom Building, Room 100.
Dr. Luisa Castro, agricultural food safety program manager for the state of Hawaiʻi Department of Agriculture, presents “FSMA: What You Should Know.” Topics include an overview of the law, how it affects local farms and production and information about important exemptions and scenarios. Her presentation concludes with a question and answer session.
The event is sponsored by CAFNRM, Hawaiʻi Farmer’s Union United East Hawaiʻi Chapter, and the state of Hawaiʻi Department of Agriculture. For more information, contact CAFNRM Dean Bruce Mathews at 932-7036.
