NHERC announces Waipiʻo Valley exhibit

The public is invited to the opening of the exhibit Waipiʻo Valley: A Cultural Kīpuka on Thursday, September 21, at 4:30 p.m., at the Heritage Center of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo North Hawaiʻi Education and Research Center in Honokaʻa. Opening festivities will include entertainment by Darlene Ahuna.
The exhibit showcases the Valley’s fragile ecosystem, the tradition of growing kalo (taro), early accounts and photographs of the Valley, legends of Waipiʻo, and long-time families who have contributed to the area’s enduring heritage.
