UH Hilo to host Regional Science Olympiad

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo invites all Hawaiʻi Island middle and high schools to register for the 2017 Hawaiʻi Island Regional Science Olympiad Tournament scheduled for Saturday, February 4, 2017 on the UH Hilo campus. The top teams from the Regional competition will qualify for the State tournament to be held on O`ahu in March.
Science Olympiad tournaments encourage teamwork while strengthening participant abilities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The 2017 Regional competition will include a broad range of events to test participant understanding in natural sciences areas such as invasive species, geology, meteorology, and chemistry. Other STEM events offered at the competition include Crime Busters, Remote Sensing, Helicopters, Wright Stuff, Game On, Towers and Wind Power. Visit www.hsso.org for the full list of 2017 events.
