Basic ballroom dance classes offered

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is offering two ballroom dance classes this fall. The foundation of ballroom dances will be covered, including etiquette, positions, steps, partnering techniques, recognizing types of music and more. No partner or experience is necessary.
Michael Amick teaches Swing, Hustle and Night Club Two-Step on Tuesdays, September 13 to November 15, 6:30 –7:30 pm in the UH Hilo Old Gym.Amick began dancing in 1997 and has taught at the Community College of Baltimore County. He currently teaches both hustle and salsa in Hilo.
Susan Gai will cover a trio of Latin ballroom dances on Thursdays, September 15 to November 17, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the UH Hilo Old Gym. Gai recently moved to Hilo from Napa Valley, CA, where she has extensive experience teaching ballroom dancing since 2001.
Each class costs $75 or $125 for both. Participants should wear lightweight, smooth-soled shoes (no rubber) or socks.
