For Immediate Release

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo offers partner dance workshops this Valentine’s weekend.

The Brazilian Zouk Beginners workshop will be held on Saturday, February 13, with the next level, Step It Up, offered on Sunday, February 14. Both sessions are held from 2 - 5 p.m. in the UH Hilo Old Gym. Cost is $25 for each class, or $40 for both.

The workshops introduce the basic rhythms, musicality, body movement and partnering techniques for leading and following. Students will then advance to learning more complex moves, practicing with new partners, and working on technique and style.

Instructor Marie Alonzo Snyder holds a BFA and MFA in dance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, as well as a doctorate in art and art education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
