CES Instructor Instructions

CES Quick Reference Guide

October 29, 2018 through November 15, 2018: Instructor Setup

  • Per request of VC Hon, please do not add in additional questions for AY2018-19
  • If you are still considering adding in customized questions, this is the time to do it. Your customized questions will appear first on the survey followed by UH Hilo's standard 24 questions.
  • After November 15, 2018 the survey will be locked from editing. You will only be able to view the survey questions; survey results will not be released until December 20, 2018.

November 15, 2018 or November 16, 2018: Remind Students

  • Remind your students that they will get an email from the UH System Office asking them to complete their surveys starting on Monday, November 19, 2018.
    • Reminder emails will be sent to students on Mondays.
  • If you are planning to administer the survey during class time, this is a good time to announce what day you will be administering the survey so students do not complete them ahead of time.

November 19, 2018 through December 6, 2018 (last day of instruction): Surveys Open

  • Consider administering the surveys early. If you administer the survey on the first Monday or Tuesday, it'll provide an opportunity to watch your response rate. If your response rates are still low by the next class meeting, you can remind students to complete their surveys throughout the week.
  • The survey does not require any special app. The survey is mobile friendly and can be accessed with a phone, tablet, or laptop.
  • Optional: To increase participation, give students a small amount of credit for completing the survey. From your CES dashboard, you will be able to see the number of completed surveys.
    • For example, if 60% of the class completes the survey, XX amount of extra credit will be awarded to the class.
      • UH Hilo's normal response rate is less than 65%.
