My Journey Scholarship

At UH Hilo where your journey is our focus, we strive to ensure that your experiences is memorable, both in and outside of the classroom. This scholarship gives you the chance to share your journey with us.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must have applied to UH Hilo, including submitting high school transcripts.
• Must be a new, incoming student (under 24 college credits complete).

Application Requirements

• Complete our scholarship application form

Journey Essay Topics:

• ‘Āina (Land): How does your respect and appreciation for ʻĀina inspire your degree program selection or other activities on campus?

• Kuleana (Responsibility, right and privilege): What Kuleana did you take on in high school and how do you plan to continue during college?

• Mālama (To take care of, serve, protect): What do you Malama and how does it motivate you to start college and complete your program?

• ʻOhana (Family): Who was instrumental in preparing you and influencing your decisions regarding college and how will they support you in the future? (nuclear or family of choosing)

Extended Deadline to apply: March 1st, 2023

Scholarship Awards

A selection of awardees will be selected for each category: ‘Āina, Kuleana, Mālama or ‘Ohana.
