Research Interests

  • Land-based aquaculture production of warm-water marine fish: ʻōpakapaka (pink snapper Pristipomoides filamentosus), kahala (longfin yellowtail Seriola rivoliana), giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus), ʻamaʻama (striped mullet Mugil cephalus).
  • Aquaculture nutritional studies and fish feeds formulation and production.
  • Sustainable farming of omnivorous and carnivorous fish with algae-based feeds using Spirulina, Schizochytrium, Haematococcus, and other alternative ingredients as yeast, bacteria and insect meals.
  • Land-based integrated farming of marine fish and seaweeds in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
