ʻUluʻulu: The Henry Kuʻualoha Guigni Moving Image Archive of Hawaiʻi
The mission of the Archive is to perpetuate and share the rich moving image heritage of Hawai‘i through the preservation of film and videotape related to the history and culture of Native Hawaiians and the people of Hawai‘i. The collection includes moving images of Hawaiiʻs music and dance.

  • The Recollect catalog home page offers ways to explore the content through widgets that allow browsing by content type, featured collections and topic. There are currently more than 4,000 searchable titles with video clips available for viewing.

Films on Demand

Films on Demand has videos in all subject areas from producers including A&E, Films for Humanities & Sciences, Green Planet Films, HBO, Ken Burns, National Geographic, PBS, and many more!

  • The videos in Films on Demand are divided into segments to make finding specific information easy so you don’t have to watch a 60-minute video to find the 3-minute part on your topic. The search box defaults to searching by segments, so you might see what looks like a lot of duplicates, but that’s because there may be multiple segments about one topic in a film.
  • By selecting the name of the segment (first link) you will be taken to exactly that point in the film. By selecting the film title (second link) you will be taken to the beginning of the entire film. If there are a lot of segments listed from one film, you might want to watch the whole thing.

Films on Demand has many tools to make the most of the video (see image below).
