Search Tips

  • Use " " (quotation marks) around phrases (searches that are more than one word). For example: "sustainable aquaculture,"fish production," etc.
  • Use the truncation symbol to search for variations of a word (asterisk * symbol). For example: Nutri* will find all of these: nutrition, nutrient, nutrients, and nutritive.
  • Once you determine the major authors who write about the topic you are interested in (the experts), search for their publications.
  • Once you find a relevant article, make note of the subject terms/keywords that are assigned to the article and use the most relevant subject terms/keywords to search for other articles.
  • Refer to the reference list of a relevant article to see if there are other sources that you would like to find to incorporate into your research.
