Academic Advising

Advising for Current and Prospective Psychology Students

Advising is a very important resource designed to help students with a variety of academic, career and personal issues that may be relevant to their course of study. It is highly recommended that students see their advisors at least once a semester to decide on courses, ensure academic progress and discuss their future educational and career options.

All professors in the Department of Psychology serve as academic advisors to undergraduate Psychology majors and provide consultations to students interested in becoming one. Each of our instructors can provide individual advising upon request. Additionally, each semester the department sets up advising sessions during the week preceding the first week of classes. Students are always welcome to meet with any Psychology faculty if they need advice.

How to Obtain Advising

For questions that are not related to the study of psychology and careers in psychology (e.g., tuition, transfer of credits, general institutional policies, student exchange programs, personal problems, etc.) please seek advising from the Advising Center . Numerous advisors and counselors located in the Student Services Building will be happy to meet with you either by appointment or on a walk-in basis. View more information about student services at UH Hilo.
