Summary:
In this study, a model was applied to the energetic economics of feeding (non-breeding) territoriality in a nectar-eating passerine bird, that is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, called the Hawaiian Honeycreeper (Vestiaria coccinea). This model predicts the conditions that determine the presence or absence of feeding territoriality in the species.
