Summary:
While many believe that the summit of Mauna Kea is a lifeless, red-black jumble of lava blocks and clinkers, it is the author's hope that this paper will demonstrate this is a mistaken impression as a new species of predator-scavenger, Nysius wekiuicola, is described from the summit of Mauna Kea, on the island of Hawaii.
