Summary:
The authors present the first detailed observations and descriptions of the Wekiu bug, Nysius wekiuicola, including the Wekiu's complete life history. The Wekiu bug, endemic to the summit area of Mauna Kea, is able to persist in harsh environments. Conservation issues include compromising the essential habitat for the Wekiu bug and the introduction of insect predators and competitors in their specialized habitat.
