Sediment core collection Students in Marine Science have many opportunities to participate in research in Hawaiʻi and elsewhere under different programs.

• Work with faculty! All Marine Science faculty lead research projects in a wide array of marine science disciplines and include undergraduate students as volunteers, interns, and employees.
• The Marine Science department maintains marine field resources in support of education and research at UH Hilo.
• There are many paid internship programs for Marine Science students on campus and across Hawaiʻi Island. For example, during summer we have the Pacific Internship Programs for Exploring Science
• Faculty also support Graduate Research for students enrolled in UH Hilo’s Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Sciences
