Summary:
This document describes the chronic or intermittent dangers of working at high altitude to which a large number of today's population are exposing themselves as an increased number of people live at or travel to high altitude for work or recreational purposes. The medical conditions that may be experienced at high altitude are: hypoxia, acute mountain sickness, high altitude pulmonary edema, and high altitude cerebral edema. The causes and associated symptoms of these conditions as well as the ways in which one might prevent the effects of high altitude are described.
