Summary:
The purpose of this study was to develop an antenna pointing and tracking model for the Smithsonian Millimeter Array (SMA), and to assist in the preparation of an overall system specification. This document describes an experiment that was performed at a Mauna Kea site where wind measurements were taken and describes a test outline, the type of transducer that was used as well as its attributes and performance, how a wind vane was used to measure the wind speed, a data logger that was used, and includes data reduction information.
