This project was planned in five integrated subprojects as follows: 1) Floristic and structural analyses of ohia forests in dieback areas (D. Mueller-Dombois); 2) Soil and substrate analyses for a habitat type classification (D. Mueller-Dombois); 3) Role of pathogens in ohia dieback (W.H. Ko); 4) Vegetation map of ohia rain forest in dieback terrain (D. Mueller-Dombois); 5) Experimental studies to corroborate field observations (D. Mueller-Dombois and W.H. Ko). This report presents the progress made since July 1976 by building on the information given in the Second Progress Report of June 1976.
