Summary:
In an effort for the U.S. Army to be better stewards of the more than 10 million hectares of public lands of which they use, a Land Condition-Trend Analysis (LCTA) program was designed to inventory and monitor the Army's use of the lands. One of the main tasks of the LCTA is to do a floristic inventory of the lands by collecting, identifying, verifying, and archiving all of the vascular plant taxa found on the Army's installation. As a result, this document briefly introduces the physical features of the Pōhakuloa Training Area (PTA), that is situated near the center of the island of Hawaiʻi, describes the ecological characteristics of the plant communities, and provides an ecological checklist for the various communities.
