Summary:
The authors studied the effects of climate changes on populations of silverswords using 80 years of data records. The shift in Trade Wind Inversion (TWI) incidence has led to drier conditions in high elevation ecosystems in Hawaii and less moisture for the silverswords, resulting the numbers of silverswords on Haleakala declined about 60 percent since 1990.
