Summary:
A cross-section of the kinds of forests that are affected with canopy dieback in the central and south Pacific regions is presented in this document. These include several montane rain forests that occur on islands that range from tropical, subtropical, and temperate environments. Although the seventeen invited papers were grouped by country, the papers show interesting between-country similarities with regard to research approaches and the causes that are considered the most plausible as based on current knowledge. As a result, it seemed suitable to recall the kinds of forests that were discussed and to combine the research highlights and findings that were presented in these papers.
