Astronomical observatories Mauna Kea
- Summary:
- This document describes three fully operational astronomical facilities that sit atop Mauna Kea, on the island of Hawaii, and three planned telescopes that would be fully operational by 1980. Having all six telescopes in operation at the 13,796 foot summit will give Mauna Kea more light-gathering power than any astronomy center in the world by which to explore the mysteries of the universe such as planets, distant galaxies, and clouds of cosmic gas and dust.
