Summary:
This document describes the Hawaiian Madiinae, (Silversword), that constitutes a genetically diverse but strictly monophyletic alliance of approximately 28 species in three genera -- the Dubautia sensu lato, Argyroxiphium, and Wilkesia. Described are the habital diversities, the diversity of the internal features of these plants, (such as the leaf and stem anatomy), as well as the physiology and the chromosomal differentiations of these plants.
