- Summary:
- The adaptations of insects and other terrestrial arthropods to alpine environments are a combination of characteristics that are related to their rigorous surroundings. Due to the abrupt change in climatic conditions that occur at timberline areas, the number of species that inhabit these areas decrease drastically. As a result, those that have invaded alpine zones are faced with special problems of survival. This paper is a review of the literature that relates to the adaptation of insects and other terrestrial arthropods that inhabit areas that are above a timberline.
