V. Ramanathan and colleagues at the National Center for Atmospheric Research had a theory that the tropics would escape the consequences of global warming. However, global warming and increases in CO2 have caused undeniable increases in tropical sea temperature and ocean acidity. The consequences include extreme weather and food shortages.
