Summary:
The effects of precipitation on the surface temperature and airflow over the island of Hawaii that were not considered in previous studies, are presented in this paper as this study investigates how the rain showers on the windward side of the island modifies the surface thermodynamic fields during the morning and evening transitions. The effects of rain showers on the timing of the upslope (downslope) flow onset during the morning (evening) transition will also be examined based on a comparison between the rain and the dry morning (evening) cases.
