Title: Monkeypox: A Short Guide

What is it?
Monkeypox is a contagious disease that is currently having an outbreak in the U.S. and other countries where the virus is not commonly seen. It is caused by the monkeypox virus and is not generally lethal. Infections can last from 2 to 4 weeks and those with it will be infectious until all lesions scab over and new skin has grown.
Vaccinations are available for those who have been exposed to monkeypox. If you need treatment for monkeypox, contact your physician.

Transmission
Large respiratory droplets can spread monkeypox when people breathe, sneeze, cough,or talk.
Touching parts of the body with monkeypox sores, intimate contact with others, and body fluids can also spread it.

Symptoms
Fever, headache, muscle aches, chills, exhaustion and swollen lymph nodes are the first symptoms to appear. Rashes or sores appear on hands, feet, chest, face, or genitals.

Prevention
Avoid close contact with people who have rashes or sores. People with monkeypox should isolate and should not share household or personal items.Regularly wash your hands with soap and water.
