Title: Macbeth: From The London Stage
The play of Macbeth by the Actors of The London Stage was performed on October 19th at the Performing Arts Center. With just five actors to play every part, this interpretation of Shakespeare’s play was one of the first live performances to come back to our campus. The play of Macbeth follows the tale of Scottish general Macbeth who hears that he is to become king from three witches. After hearing of this, his wife encourages him to kill the king to take the throne, resulting in Macbeth becoming paranoid and having delusions. With this paranoia, he murders more people to ensure his position as king, leading to him being overthrown and killed.
Before attending this play I was unsure how well so many characters would be played by a small cast. This worry did not last long as I was pleasantly surprised how impressively coordinated the performance was. Personally, my favorite part of the performance was any part with music and sound effects due to how well they were able to create an atmosphere with different instruments. Every actor put their all into each character, which led to an enjoyable experience for the audience that ended with a standing ovation. A play with this much heart prompts me to give it a rating of a 9/10.
This was undoubtedly a strong start for the return of live performances in the Performing Arts Center. While it is unsure when the play of Macbeth is set to return, I would highly encourage attending other upcoming live performances such as Wordsworth, The Musical from November 4th to the 6th.
