This report was prepared for the State of Hawaii by Tudor Engineering Company, a consulting engineering firm, and based on the firm's studies of roadways on the southern slope of Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii. The roadway alignments studied were in the Hamakua and North Hilo Districts and lie in a north-south corridor between the Saddle Road in the vicinity of Puu Huluhulu and the University of Hawaii observatory northwest of the summit of Mauna Kea. Included in the report are design standards for a paved, two-lane, all-weather roadway for four-wheel-drive passenger and commercial vehicles.
