- Summary:
- This report documents the preliminary results of the first year of a two year contract between the US Army Garrison, Hawaii (USAG-HI) and The Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU) as outlined in the Scope of Work (SOW) dated February 20, 2004. The work was done for Cultural Resources Activities under the Ecosystems Management Program that was implemented to conserve, protect and enhance the natural and cultural resources in the State of Hawaii as well as to comply with all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations while also improving the US Army's ability to conduct and maintain military readiness. In order to obtain this goal and ensure proper management measures/decisions were implemented, a better understanding of the natural and cultural resources of the State of Hawaii needed to be achieved. All work reported in this document was conducted at the Pohakuloa Training Area, on the island of Hawaii, and specifically addresses the projects outlined in Section 5.b.(1-10), Cultural Resources Management. The project consisted of inventory survey, site identification, site monitoring, database management, site relocation, maintenance of a curation facility, implementation of monitoring schedule and various other duties that were performed outside the SOW from July 1st 2004 - June 30th 2005.
