Climate Precipitation
Summary:
The purpose of this study was to determine daily rainfall patterns during periods of steady trade winds for the six major islands of Hawaii -- Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Oahu, and Kauai. This information would be useful to meteorologists because it would provide an excellent climatological base for long-range planning of human activities and agricultural development but, more importantly, it would imply the existence of a persistently recurring physical process. The methods and instrumentation that was used in this study as well as a discussion of the results for the six islands, the data that was collected, a description of the weather that occurred during the study period with regard to winds, cloudiness, and rainfall, in addition to a variety of maps, figures, and tables are included in this study.
