This document describes attempts to stop the invasion of pests such as the brown tree snake, (Boiga irregularis [Merrem]), alien species of arthropods, fungus that is capable of killing healthy trees, (such as the Phytophathora ramorum Werres et al.), and the pinewood nematode (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus), the nematode genus (Bursaphelenchus), and the beetle genus (Monachamus), that is a result of the proliferation of transportation and free trade.
