Section 7. Commercial activities on Mauna Kea. This section is in regard to an action that requested the Board of Regents to accept the delegation from the Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) to the University of Hawaii (UH) transferring the authority to regulate commercial tour activities on Mauna Kea; to authorize the Office of Mauna Kea Management (OMKM) through its Director to continue to regulate the nine permit holders who operate commercial tour activities under the same terms and conditions imposed by the BLNR until the OMKM develops and the Board of Regents approves temporary permits; grant the OMKM the authority to issue permits and collect fees under the same terms and conditions that exist through the BLNR; authorize the OMKM to deposit the fees generated from commercial tour activities into the UH Auxiliary Enterprises Special Fund that will authorize the OMKM to utilize the amounts deposited for the cost of providing auxiliary services.
