Summary:
Pennisetum setaceum (Forssk.) Chiov. (fountain grass), a native northern Africa grass, is invading dryland habitats on the Hawaii Island. The author conducted an experiment to assess the effect of three herbicides (hexazinone, glyphosate, and triclopyr) as well as a mechanical technique to control P. setaceum. Hexazinone was the most effective as a primary treatment and combined with manual removal. Triclopyr was more effective when combined with the secondary manual treatment. Triclopyr was ineffective when applied alone.
