This is a media release announcing that in a closed session meeting the Board of Land and Natural Resources approved the Conservation District Use Permit to add six "outrigger" telescopes to the existing twin Keck telescopes on the summit of Mauna Kea despite pleas by Hawaiians and the Sierra Club to wait until the National Aeronautics and Space Administration could complete a court-initiated environmental study of the project.
