Found from sea level to the subalpine zone primarily in the native ohia forests on all major Hawaiian islands, (except Niihau and Kahoolawe), this article describes the distinguishing characteristics of the Hawaii, Kauai, Oahu, and Greater Amakihi with regard to its distinguishing characteristics, systematics, migration, habitat, food habits, sounds, behavior, breeding, demography and populations, their appearance, as well as the conservation and management plans for these birds. Priorities for future research are also described.
