- Summary:
- According to Harold Douglas Pratt, author of The Hawaiian Honeycreepers, when Amadon's work was published it became "one of the landmarks of drepaniidae research. The Hawaiian Honeycreepers (Aves Drepaniidae) was the first complete revision of the group since Perkins (1903), and brought their taxonomy into line with contemporary thinking that favored large polytypic species and broadly defined genera; it was the basis of honeycreeper classification for the next three decades."
