- This document is an annual report of studies that were conducted regarding the composition of late Hawaiian lavas that were taken from field samplings of 90 rock analyses that were collected from the islands of Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii, the composition and diagenesis of Hawaiian detrital muds, a field and laboratory investigation of the petrology of the Manua Islands in American Samoa, the deep exploratory boring in the Pearl Harbor Area in Hawaii that included long cores taken from the West coastal plain of Oahu with emphasis placed on paleontologic studies of the cores, the deep drilling of two holes through limestone reef and into the baslatic basement on Midway atoll, and the limnological studies on Mauna Kea at Lake Waiau, one of the highest alpine lakes in the United States.
