- Twenty-three parties plus the applicant, University of Hawaii-Hilo, have been admitted to the contested case, presided over by retired Judge Riki May Amano. The first hearing was held Oct. 20 and the hearing is scheduled to continue well into the new year. Opponents raise issues of religion, kingdom, and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787.
