Summary:
To bridge the gap of a cultural divide between scientists who study astronomy on the summit of Mauna Kea and the Hawaiian community to whom the summit is sacred. University of Hawaii at Hilo established the Imiloa Astronomy Center with congressional support. Five years after Imiloa's opening, positive impact have already been made to build trust between Hawaiian community and astronomical community.
