Summary:
Cosmic ray muons are particles produced in the upper atmosphere by incident cosmic rays. This study investigates cosmic ray muon flux and energy with variable altitude. A portable muon detection apparatus was used at 400 m internals between sea level and 4,200 m to measure muon incidence rates with altitude and characteristic energies. The results show that the muon flux and overall muon energy increase with detection altitude.
