Summary:
Hawaii Volcano Observatory scientist in charge James Kauahikaua, in his weekly Volcano Watch newsletter published on Nov. 7th, reported that the Lake Waiau was shrinking at an alarming rate: from the normal 1.2 to 1.7 acres to its current 0.03 acres. It's likely caused by an extended drought period that Hawaii has experienced since 2008.
